ENISA, Spain’s funding agency for startups and SMEs, has now approved InsectBiotech as “an innovative and scalable enterprise startup” in Spain.
This is big news for us, and our investors. I’ll explain why.
ENISA is a significant and influential state-owned enterprise owned by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. It’s not easy to get this certification, which is one reason why it matters.
ENISA provides small and medium-sized enterprises with financial support. It operates under management of the General Directorate of Industry and SMEs, which is part of the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
Becoming recognised by ENISA for our work to date is a major boost for IB.
This is particularly true, given our recent recognition in winning Alhambra Venture Impact Award 2024 for the start up with the most environmental and circularity impact potential, out of 38 finalists and more than 1000 applicants.
“ENISA is a key actor in the Spanish ecosystem for start ups like ours. Being named officially as an innovative and scalable enterprise startup is huge boost for us and our investors” says our founder and chief operations officer Ben Brown.
This is a significant step forward for IB, as this certification means that ENISA through its Certification Committee certifies that we are an innovative and scalable enterprise startup.
This means that any Spanish investors will receive significant tax credits for investing in us and that we as a business qualify for additional funding in Spain.
ENISA is focused on supporting small and medium-sized companies with the potential for transformation, which are committed to entrepreneurship and innovation. The organisation is part of the Directorate General for Industrial Strategy and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, which is part of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
ENISA’s shareholders are:
- General Directorate of State Assets: 97.60%
- Center for Industrial Technology Development: 2.21%
- Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings: 0.12%
- ICEX Spain Exports and Investments: 0.07%
As IB moves now towards our next capital raise to build our first major protein and fertiliser farm, this is a significant win, and any investors interested to know should contact our CEO, Ignacio [email protected]
