InsectBiotech Awarded Spain’s Innovative SME Seal
InsectBiotech has been awarded the Sello Pyme Innovadora.
This is Spain’s official Innovative SME Seal from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The recognition is awarded to small and medium-sized businesses that demonstrate an active commitment to research, development and technological innovation.
For InsectBiotech, it is an encouraging milestone: an official acknowledgement of the scientific, technical and practical work behind our ambition to build scalable insect-biotechnology solutions.
Innovation at the centre
Insect biotechnology sits at the intersection of biology, engineering, food and feed systems, resource efficiency, and the circular economy. Bringing new solutions to market requires sustained research, careful validation and a willingness to learn throughout the journey from idea to industrial application.
That is the work the Innovative SME Seal recognises.
At InsectBiotech, innovation is not treated as a separate activity or a short-term project. It is embedded in how we approach product development, process design and partnerships.
We are focused on turning biological potential into useful, reliable and commercially relevant outcomes.
All this while helping create more resilient systems for managing resources and producing valuable materials.
The seal strengthens that message. It gives customers, collaborators, investors and public-sector partners a clear, independent indication that InsectBiotech is building on a genuine R&D foundation.
A platform for collaboration
The recognition also supports the company’s ability to participate in Spain’s wider innovation ecosystem. It can help InsectBiotech engage with specialist research and development programmes, innovation-oriented public procurement opportunities and funding channels designed to support technology-led businesses.
More importantly, it provides an additional platform for collaboration.
Progress in insect biotechnology depends on bringing together expertise from across the value chain: researchers, engineers, industrial partners, feed and food businesses, agricultural stakeholders, public institutions and investors.
The Innovative SME Seal reinforces InsectBiotech’s position as a credible, innovation-focused partner in those conversations.
Looking ahead
Europe is increasingly looking for practical ways to improve resource efficiency, strengthen supply-chain resilience and accelerate the transition towards more circular production models. Insect biotechnology can contribute to this shift through applications in bioconversion, sustainable inputs, functional ingredients and resource recovery.
Receiving the Innovative SME Seal does not mark the end of a process. It is recognition of work underway—and a useful foundation for the next stage of development.
InsectBiotech looks forward to building on this milestone with its team, partners and stakeholders as it continues to develop technology with the potential to create value across more sustainable bio-based systems.
